Emergency Service & Response Times

Yes. Refrigeration failures don’t wait for business hours, so we don’t either. Call (205) 223-8093 any time — nights, weekends and holidays — and we’ll dispatch a technician to your business.

Our technicians are based in the Birmingham metro. For a down cooler or freezer we can usually be on site the same day, and often within a few hours. Emergency calls are always prioritized ahead of scheduled work.

Keep the door closed as much as possible, move the most temperature-sensitive product to another working unit if you have one, and note the current temperature. If you see water near electrical components or smell something burning, shut the unit off at the breaker and tell us when you call.

After-hours emergency calls carry an emergency service rate, which we’ll tell you up front before we dispatch. There are never surprises on the invoice.

Most of the time, yes. Our trucks are stocked with the compressors, fan motors, contactors, relays, thermostats, gaskets and refrigerant that account for the majority of commercial refrigeration failures. If a specialty part has to be ordered, we’ll get your unit running as safely as possible in the meantime.

Equipment & Services

Walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, reach-in coolers and freezers, display cases, deli and bakery cases, prep tables, under-counter units, beverage coolers, merchandisers and commercial ice machines. If it keeps something cold in a business, we can repair it.

Yes. Our technicians work on every major commercial refrigeration brand and all configurations — from a small under-counter unit to a large grocery or warehouse walk-in.

No. We are a repair-only company. We don’t sell equipment, which means our recommendations are never influenced by a sale. If a replacement truly makes more sense than a repair, we’ll tell you — but we have no incentive to push one.

Yes. We repair all types of commercial ice machines — cubers, flakers, nugget machines and under-counter units — including issues like low ice production, slow harvest cycles, leaks, scale buildup and water quality problems. See our ice machine repair page for details.

No — we specialize exclusively in commercial refrigeration for businesses. Focusing on commercial equipment lets us stock the right parts and keep our technicians expert in the systems restaurants, grocers, schools and warehouses depend on.

Yes. Our technicians are EPA-certified to detect and repair refrigerant leaks and recharge systems properly. We always find and fix the leak rather than just topping off the refrigerant, because a top-off alone is a short-term fix that costs you more over time.

Common Problems & Warning Signs

Temperatures that won’t hold or swing during the day, frost or ice on the evaporator coil or walls, water pooling on the floor, a compressor that runs constantly or short-cycles, unusual buzzing or grinding noises, a door that won’t seal, and higher-than-normal electric bills.

The most common causes are a dirty condenser coil, low refrigerant from a leak, a failed evaporator fan motor, an iced-over evaporator coil, or a faulty thermostat or controller. All of these are repairable — the key is getting a technician out before product is lost.

Ice buildup usually means a defrost problem — a failed defrost timer, heater or termination switch — or warm, humid air getting in through a bad door gasket, a door left open or a failed door closer. It can also point to a refrigerant issue. Let it keep going and the evaporator will ice over completely and the unit will stop cooling.

Typically a clogged or frozen drain line, a cracked drain pan, or ice melting off an evaporator that has been icing up. Standing water is a slip hazard and a health-inspection problem, so it’s worth calling us quickly.

A walk-in cooler should hold 35–38°F (never above 41°F for food safety). A walk-in freezer should hold 0°F or below. If your unit can’t reach or hold those numbers, it needs service.

Not always, but it’s a warning. Buzzing, rattling or grinding often points to a failing fan motor, loose components or a compressor under strain. Catching it early is far cheaper than replacing a compressor that has burned out.

Pricing, Repair vs. Replace & Warranty

It depends on the equipment and the problem — a gasket or fan motor is very different from a compressor. What we can promise is up-front pricing: our technician diagnoses the issue, explains what’s wrong and gives you a price before any repair work begins.

In most cases a repair is far less expensive than replacement, especially on walk-ins. As a general rule, if the repair costs less than half of a replacement and the unit is in reasonable condition, repair makes sense. Because we don’t sell equipment, we’ll give you an honest answer either way.

Yes. Our repairs are backed by a workmanship warranty, and the parts we install carry the manufacturer’s warranty. We’ll explain the coverage on your invoice.

There is a diagnostic fee to send a technician out and pinpoint the problem, and we tell you what it is when you call. If you approve the repair, we roll that diagnostic into the work.

We accept all major credit cards, checks and ACH, and we can set up net terms for established commercial accounts and maintenance plan customers.

Preventive Maintenance

Yes. Our preventive maintenance plans include scheduled visits for coil cleaning, gasket and door inspection, refrigerant and electrical checks, drain line clearing and full system tune-ups — with priority scheduling if you ever do have a breakdown.

Most restaurant and grocery equipment should be professionally serviced at least twice a year, and quarterly for high-use or high-value equipment like grocery display cases and large walk-in freezers. Condenser coils in greasy kitchens often need cleaning even more often.

Keep condenser coils clean and free of dust and grease, check that door gaskets seal tightly, keep doors closed, don’t block airflow around the condensing unit, keep the drain line clear, and log temperatures daily so you catch problems early.

Yes. Most emergency breakdowns start as small problems — a dirty coil, a worn gasket, a slow refrigerant leak. Catching them on a scheduled visit costs a fraction of an emergency call, lost product and a unit that fails on a Saturday night.
